Q4 Daily Inspiration – Ralph Waldo Emerson – Serve

Character Quake:

I was eating dinner with a friend when the waiter walked over and said “Your dinner was paid for by that family that is leaving.”
We looked over and saw a family waiting and smiling.  Neither of us knew them or had ever seen them before.  The waiter said they just wanted to surprise us by doing something nice.  It was a really cool feeling and such a sweet gesture.
    I never forgot it.
After that, I would occasionally surprise someone and buy their drink or coffee at the Starbucks drive thru.  It’s a small but kind gesture that can make somebody feel so good.
Or make their day… it did mine!

Provocative Quote:
It is one of the most beautiful compensations of life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself…
Serve and thou shall be served.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Catalyst Question:
How can you help someone today?

Constructive Quest:
Do something kind that would surprise someone.

How have you helped someone and surprised them?
How did you feel?
